No wind, lots of sun and a porpoise
Departure: 10.30
Arrival: 14.30
Distance: 22 miles
Weather: Lots of sun, a cloud here and there
Wind: 4-7 kts S-SW
We start the day quietly as always, clearing the dinghy and then quietly raising the anchor. We expect a lot of seagrass on the chain, but it’s not too bad. Also, the anchor is not very blubbery.
There is virtually no wind, but enough to adjust the jib as we calmly motor towards Nyborg. We finally spot a porpoise across the sleek smooth water.
So the sailing day is chill and relaxed and we sail into Nyborg around 2pm. The town turns out to be part of the start of the Tour de France, so everything is dedicated to that moment on 2 July: flags and yellow-sprayed bicycles adorn the town. We pick up some goodies at the market, stroll along the shops and get food for the evening. After pasta pesto…. we walk 6 minutes to the cinema, where we go to watch Top Gun|Maverick. A cute cinema. It keeps striking how friendly and hospitable the people here are.
Tomorrow, Rob gets on board…. Because of the hassle of late at Schiphol, he gets into the taxi to the airport very early tomorrow.
