WJ is heavy waters

Sailing Willem Johannes left the port of Terschelling at 06.00 hrs on the 13th of July.
The winds are S-SW 20-24 kts. Winds the WJ likes to get up to speed. Yet sailing out between the island to get to the route which sets on a sailing course east is at first against wind and waves in shallow waters. Bouncing us up and down for about 1,5 hours. We loose a lot of time before we can set sail and move east. We soon realise that dog,- wind, and wave-wise on first choice Nordeney (90 miles) is no longer the wiser choice. We better choose one of the alternative destination. Ameland it is….. You can join this sail with us on youtube where heavy waters, shallows, sandbanks and running a ground before mooring in slight trouble are all part of this 35 mile journey to the fourth Dutch Isle in the Wadden-sea.
We also take you with us across a short tour on the island….in the sky and under water.
