Sailing Willem Johannes left the port of Terschelling at 06.00 hrs on the 13th of July.
The winds are S-SW 20-24 kts. Winds the WJ likes to get up to speed. Yet sailing out between the island to get to the route which sets on a sailing course east is at first against wind and waves in shallow waters. Bouncing us up and down for about 1,5 hours. We loose a lot of time before we can set sail and move east. We soon realise that dog,- wind, and wave-wise on first choice Nordeney (90 miles) is no longer the wiser choice. We better choose one of the alternative destination. Ameland it is…..
