Small project and loafing
Weather: Cloudy, lots of wind (Southeast to 24 kts) 2 short showers and some sun. In short: Jantje laughed and cried.
Special feature:
No shore power (cable not long enough), but solar panels work fine.
Project ‘hammock’ a success.
Overnight cost is Euro 43 per night.
We hesitated to sail to Troenso today (with a dash through the o, but yes…..) and anchor there. On the other hand, Patty needs to pick up a bit of work and while strolling through the city center yesterday we saw a sitting hammock that seems suspiciously appropriate for our desire.
Unlike the Quantum Leap, the Willem Johannes has little shelter from wind, rain and colder moments during long trips. Although we have good sailing suits, we still wanted to see if the hammock could be a pleasant solution.
So after finishing and ‘posting’ video 8 on the youtube channel of sailing willem johannes and an ‘english breakfast’, we stroll through the town again (where the shops are now open).
We score a pair of shoes for Ro and….the hammock. Then to the tagline for 2 matching clips. We then have coffee at the Rogeri (fish smokehouse) on the harbour and immediately get salmon and mackerel for later in the afternoon. Just then a shower falls, which we now enjoy escaping.
Then we go on board to work on our little project where the hammock can hang safely, we do have a view of the water and the tablet that shows the plotter/chart and nothing can break with all that swinging 😉 Voila…. It seems to be working!
We fill the rest of the afternoon with a bit of work, reading, watching “Borgen” (hooray!) and plotting the next few days. As it happens, Rob will board the ship on Friday morning to sail with us for a week.
